377kgs of Food Donated to Brazilian Nursery

A True Experience and taxback.com sponsored event in Brazil raised 377kgs of donated food for needy children in Belo Horizonte.

The annual event, organised by one of taxback.com's major Brazilian partners True Experience , brings together all True Experience participants – including those going abroad this year – for a night of fun, drinks and music.

To gain entry and a free t-shirt, participants had to donate 1kg of non-perishable food. All donations went to the Agostinho Cândido de Souza in Belo Horizonte, a nursery which takes care of 85 children under 5-years-old. The nursery receives little support from the Government and depends on donations to keep it running.

About 400 participants attended the True Experience event and donated a total of 377kgs of food. Everyone involved had an amazing night.

"I think this event was great!” True Experience student Guilherme Almeida said. “It's a shame that it only happens once a year. Being able to meet my friends and help in a social cause is awesome!"

Vanusa da Silva said: "I loved the party! I went last year just before I went to the US and this year again after the program. It's great to see my friends and I liked the fact that taxback.com was there because I had so many questions and so did my friends and you guys helped us a lot!"

This is the second year True Experience has organized the event and as well as taxback.com, sponsors included Assist Card, Coca Cola and Bavaria.

Taxback.com marketing manager Ana Beatriz said: "There are no words to describe the feeling of being part of an initiative like this. It's great to see so many people willing to help and knowing that these children have so many amazing people looking after them."

Taxback.com and True Experience staff delivered the 377kgs of donated food to the nursery and spent time with the children there.

“It's great to see that through True Experience we now have the help of taxback.com,” Rosilene Miranda of Creche Agostinho Cândido de Souza says. “It's very hard to depend on the help of the Government because it is not enough and without donations and help from private companies we wouldn't have enough food to feed all of the children."

Taxback.com's Belo Horizonte agent Alice Gomez said the event was a great success and it was wonderful seeing everyone gathered together having fun for a good cause.

“The best thing was delivering the food and seeing all those happy little faces carrying the food like little ants! It was amazing!”

Cristina Salles of True Experience said the exchange students' annual meeting was a celebration of the students meeting with each other and the staff and it was made even more meaningful by supporting a worth cause at the same time.

“Creche Agostinho Candido de Souza provides a meaningful service to the community by taking care of children whose mothers need to work and have no-one to leave the children with. We are partners now, and our help is much needed and appreciated," Salles says.
